Craig Vitale

OWNER / PERFORMANCE COACH

Craig Vitale is the CEO and founder of Combine Training. Craig began his athletic career as a Greenwich Cardinal at Greenwich HS. In his senior season, Craig was named First Team All-FCIAC and First Team All-State for football. Upon graduation, Craig attended the University of Tennessee to play football. After his football career at Tennessee, Craig transferred to the University of Southern Connecticut to complete his degree in Exercise Science. He began his training career at Golds Gym. He then moved to New York Sports Club and was named #1 national trainer in 2001.

Craig has been actively racing in triathlons since 2002, and in full Ironman competitions since 2007. Craig qualified for and competed in the Ironman World Championship and the 70.3 Ironman World Championship in 2010, 2012, and 2014-2017.

He has been named All American Triathlete from 2009 to 2017 each year. Amongst his many clients, Craig trains several of the local sports teams and is the official dry land coach for the YMCA Marlin’s swim team and the three-time triple crown Darien Blue Wave boys and girls swim team. He is also the former head swim coach for Greenwich Academy girls swim team. His professional certifications include NASM, ACE, AAAI-ISMA, AFAA, Athletes Performance Mentorship, FMS 1 – 2 certified and USA Triathlon Level 1 coach.

Nick Cerra

REGIONAL OPERATION MANAGER / PERFORMANCE COACH

Nick’s goal is to provide a challenging training environment that maximizes physical potential while reducing the risk of injury. Nick has experience working with adults and youth athletes ranging from high school to the Division I Collegiate level. Nick was a competitive swimmer and was a four-time high school All-American.

Nick holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health Sciences and a minor in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and a Master of Science in Sports Science with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Hofstra University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and holds USA Weightlifting 1 (USAW-1) and Certified Functional Strength Coach (CFSC) certifications.

Nic Tiemann

PERFORMANCE COACH

Nic is a lifelong athlete, competing in football, lacrosse, and rugby. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor in Physical Education. Thereafter, his passion for coaching led him to pursue his CSCS certification and become a Strength & Conditioning Coach. For the past 6 years, Nic has been working with adult and youth athletes from a variety of sports and backgrounds around the world. His goal is to help athletes and individuals reach their full athletic potential through smart, effective physical and mindset training.

He currently holds a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the NSCA, as well as a Certified Performance Nutrition Coach certification (PN-1).

Christian Clarke

PERFORMANCE COACH

Christian grew up playing many sports, including rugby, lacrosse, and wrestling. He currently trains and competes in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. His past experiences include working in a physical therapy setting and coaching in the private sector.

Christian graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor degree in Exercise Science, focusing on Human Performance, in 2020. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer.

Kieran Brennan

PERFORMANCE COACH

Kieran comes to Combine Training after previously serving as a Strength & Conditioning Coach with Team USA, working extensively with USA Bobsled, USA Luge, and USA Biathlon. Prior to his time at the Olympic Training Center, he served as the Director of Performance at a private training facility in Brooklyn, NY.

In 2017, Kieran completed his Masters in Exercise Science and Sports Nutrition from Sacred Heart University. While at Sacred Heart, he served as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at Fairfield Warde High School and completed internships at both Sacred Heart and Yale. He currently holds a CSCS, USAW L-2, FMS L-2, CFSC, USA Track and Field Level-1 Speed Coach, and is a FRC mobility specialist. He is passionate about all thing’s sports performance and sports science, and currently competes in powerlifting!

Blake Petersen

PERFORMANCE COACH

Blake brings a diverse range of experience in athletic performance, having worked with elite collegiate athletes at Baylor University, youth developmental athletes at IMG Academy, and clients in the private sector. His passion lies in fostering lifelong growth and health through performance training while helping individuals achieve their unique goals. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Peru State College in Nebraska, where he also played basketball. Blake later earned a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Baylor University. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Hannah Swirple

PERFORMANCE COACH

Hannah is a highly experienced coach with a diverse personal athletic background, including gymnastics, track & field, collegiate rowing at the University of Michigan, and Olympic weightlifting. She has coached at both the collegiate and high school levels, where she founded a collegiate weightlifting team and directed a comprehensive strength & conditioning program for student-athletes.

She holds a B.S. in Movement Science from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Coaching and Sport Education from West Virginia University. Hannah is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and holds a USA Weightlifting Level 2 (USAW L2) certification. Her technical knowledge, competitive background, and passion for athlete development make her a valuable resource for athletes striving to improve performance and long-term durability.

Gregory Muy

PERFORMANCE COACH

Greg is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with over five years of experience helping athletes and adults reach their full potential. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Mercy University and is Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 1 certified.

A lifelong athlete and competitive golfer, Greg combines golf-specific training with proven strength and conditioning methods to help clients move better, perform stronger, and stay injury-free. His mission is simple: help every client become the best version of themselves.

Ethan Clarke

Performance Coach

Ethan earned his B.S. in Exercise Science from Slippery Rock University. While there, he assisted the strength and conditioning programs for the baseball and tennis teams and competed as a collegiate golfer. He holds his Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is a Precision Nutrition Level 1 Coach (PN1).

His career has included roles as Head Performance Trainer, Facility Manager, and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Ethan works with youth athletes and adults to elevate strength, speed, and movement quality, while also emphasizing mindset, discipline, and confidence. His goal is to help every client discover their “why” and develop a lifelong passion for performance and health.
